You know what really annoys me? The “Push to start!” button on gas pumps.
Why do we need these? They add a completely arbitrary extra step – they exist only to impede your gas-pumping progress. Pressing the “Start” button doesn’t do anything except allow you to start pumping – ostensibly the reason you’re at the pump in the first place. Another reason modern gas pumps are annoying? Advertisements. The next time the gas pump asks me “Would you like a carwash today?” and won’t let me start pumping my gas until I answer yes or no, I will rip the unfortunate petrol-dispensing mechanical annoyance limb from limb!
Currently, I’m in Halifax, Nova Scotia on a day off. We’ve had one show at a college theater so far, which was very nearly sold out. The show went okay – it didn’t look quite as polished as I would have liked, because my programming time was limited by the having to update the console to the correct software version (which I had asked the rental house to do) before using it. (My show is programmed in 6.1, which is incompatible with the 5.9 they shipped the console with)
This particular show was also annoying for reasons other than this, but we’ll discuss those later.
For those who don’t know, my full schedule can be found here in Google Calendar format. Also, for anybody attempting to e-mail or contact me over the next month – I may or may not be able to respond, or even get your messages. Doesn’t mean I don’t like you.
Exit, stage left.
