I woke up this morning with a pounding headache and nausea – not a fun combination when you’re stuffed into a 2 x 4 x 6 bunk. The headache still isn’t totally gone – but I’m able to ignore it for the most part. The concert tonight is at a Christian club called “Three Degrees” in downtown Minneapolis. I have pictures – I promise – that I will post as soon as I get access to some actual bandwidth. (On the road, we can’t really upload or download anything because it’ll slow everyone else to a halt.) I’m holding up well, for the most part – the food is getting sort of bland (Club sandwiches three days in a row will make one long for an 8oz steak and mashed potatoes. Or pizza. Or something hot.)
But it’s all good.
Chris finally went home, which was good because I’m really getting tired of his constant presence. He rides my ass about everything from simple little mistakes (That’s the wrong end of the cable!) to just stuff that I do differently than him. (“No, I haven’t asked about the house console YET. I will. I don’t care if you’d have done it fifteen minutes ago!”) Honestly, I know he was trying to help, but his constant nagging was wearing thin on me.
Aaaaanyways, enough complaining.
So far I’ve had a blast – I figured out how to use the Avolites dimmer rack without an instruction manual tonight (I’ve never used a hard patch for lights before…once you do it it makes sense.) We’re using the house console and most of their lights – the only things I pulled off the truck was the vertical trussing and the Martin Atomic 3000 strobes, which I’m using as blinders. It should be a sweet show; the lights they have here are quite a bit brighter (And more numerous) than ours, and their console is laid out logically and I think it’ll be pretty easy to use. I’ll take pictures and post them when we get to the hotel.
Exit, stage left.
