It’s 0:48 hours, and I’m still practicing “My Life is in Your Hands” by Kathy Troccoli – I’m supposed to play it tomorrow at my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. I have no problem with playing the piano for their day, it’s the song (picked by my aunt) that I have a problem with. I despise this piece of music. It’s so cloyingly sweet, and the 90’s Sandi Patti violins with too much reverb just add to the empalagante of the piece.
I need some insulin before my blood sugar levels overload.
“Empalagante” is Spanish, apparently, for “sickeningly sweet”. English needs a word like this. Good Lord, I love Google.
(2:49:21 PM) Pixel: You have crazy google-fu.
In other news, does anybody have any idea how I could cheaply mass-produce something that looks really close to this stuff? It might have some cool applications for set design, as a backdrop or cool set pieces…but the actual stuff is expensive. I was thinking maybe some kind of thick insulation foam in 4’x8′ sheets with the squares cut into it…but it would be hard to make the squares perfect, and foam has a tendency to not cut smoothly, and I want it to look nice. Any ideas?
Exit, stage left.
