One From the Road, Two

Greets from Hanover, Maryland, where it's stupid hot.

Tour is going well. Last night was the biggest show that I've ever done, in front of an audience of about 25,000 people. We were an opening act, so the rig and the stage weren't mine to completely control. All the opening acts had a video wall that the production manager insisted on keeping where it was - blocking about three quarters of the upstage truss. I also had to do all my programming (On a GrandMA) between the other opening acts, and it was during the day, so I could just barely see my focus positions. The show wasn't bad, though. I'm now comfortable enough on the MA to not be completely freaked out when I have to program on one in a short amount of time. The only thing I could have asked for would have been the removal of the video wall blocking all my upstage PARs (along with better colors, they were all light pastels, plus red and blue.) and, of course, more programming time. But they show went well, and there lots of drunk, sweaty, loud people who enjoyed it as well. Oh yeah, all the lights were VL3000 spots. ::grins::

Today we're at a bar in Maryland, the Cancun Cantina, for an outdoor show at 16:00...no lights tonight, so I'm running with Lou, our monitor engineer and helping out where needed. We're headed back to Nashville tomorrow for a day off, then back out to California for a couple of weeks.

I'll post pictures here tonight.

Exit, stage left. Sparks
