Tootsie Pops and shiny badges

mood: mischievous

music: Flogging Molly: Drunken Lulabies

Great moments in security guard history, while on duty at a bank:

Little 5 year-old girl: (waves at me) Hi, police! Me: (waves back, amused)

I didn't have the heart to go over and tell her that I was not a police officer, but was, in fact, just a rent-a-cop. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I realized her mother was illegally parked. She probably rented those children to distract people from her heinous crimes.

Thim: A what?

I ate more than my fair share of tootsie pops while on duty at the bank...about 2 every 10 minutes. I suppose that I should consider the consequences of a security-type doing something as immature as crunching on a sucker, but hey, who else do they provide them for, if not incredibly bored security gaurds?

I also discovered an interesting feature of the door that goes to the drive-up room, which is separate from the main bank lobby. I was waiting for the tellers to come out, when I leaned up against the door and felt it push back slightly. Upon closer examination, I realized that the door can be pushed back slightly, and that doing this pushes the latch against the solid part of the striker, which allows a credit card (I used a business card) to be inserted between the latch and the striker....which opens the door. I'm sure that I'll find some evil way to exploit this.

I'm actually considering going to my old church tonight...not because I want to go, but because my parents claim that the kids want to see me. I'm still rather bitter at that church, for good reason, but I suppose I shouldn't take out my frustration on little kids. The counter-argument to this is that the sooner they learn that the world doesn't give a crap what they want, the better. My parents, for some reason, didn't like this argument.

Pixel finally got back from CA. (Why am I putting this here, the only two people who read my journal already know this. :-p) I suppose I should bring him a welcome-home gift of some kind...maybe some cookies. Yea. Pixels love cookies.

Up up and away!
