Stuff to work on

1) Jeff doesn't like his mic being adjusted by other people, or maybe just during the service? I don't know what the deal was, or why that made him respond the way he did.

2) Following along in the sermon notes is a great way to not miss mic cues.

3) What, if anything, am I actually going to be directing?

Okay, item three requires some further thought. First and foremost, I'm really starting to get the idea that Jeff believes that now that Chris is gone, all of HIS PLANS for the technical ministry can come to fruition. I have never had anyone meddle so much. He talks a million miles a minute, doesn't give people a chance to respond, and basically nothing has changed as far as who's in charge. He's promoting his ideas and his plans on a second by second basis, and letting me do absolutely nothing. If I'm going to be the technical director, he needs to let me direct. Perfect example, today he just starts talking about the whole team that he wants to build for Saturday night. Isn't that the TD's responsibility? Is it not the TD's responsibility to schedule people? Who's this Lauren guy? Did I miss something? Why, if scheduling is going just fine, rip it away from me, (neglect it the first week, just for fun) and then hand it off to some person, who seems like a nice guy but still, who "has a lot of expertise in that area.".

Second example: going on about "team leaders" with Bill. What the heck is a "team leader"? A video director? Did you just hire me as the TD to have someone else lead the team? Do the scheduling? Mop the floors? Assign positions? He talks to me about being given opportunities to lead and then....doesn't give me a chance. I cannot lead when there is no clear leader. The technicians are getting instructions from three different people (Jeff, Me, Lauren) is stupid, redundant, and waste of time.

I am a huge fan of the responsibilities of a department coming under the leadership of one person. Musical arrangement falls to Tim, pastoring falls to Tom and Jeff, tech falls to me, communication falls to Lance, and so forth. Tell me what you want to happen, and I'll make it happen. In fact, that's the best way that I work. Tell me what you want to see, and I'll make it happen. Simple as that. I realize that Jeff is very "hands on" pastor, but to be perfectly honest, too many cooks spoil the broth, and Jeff is like three hyperactive cooks on caffeine rolled into one.

[edit[ Didn't I notice this problem like six entries ago? And didn't I predict that I'd have to deal with it?
